DLP Improvement
Feedback and prioritization of the DLP Improvement Thread add your ideas about how to improve DLP and vote on your favorites. Re-add any I’ve missed. Any feedback you have is welcome.
If at all possible, add every idea you have. This will be a persistent system for feedback on DLP.
Democratization, in my DLP?? ಠ_ಠ

Fix potential to lose all text while trying to post on old threads
If you have a thread with the 'more than 30 days old' warning message, if you type up whatever you are going to post there and press preview without ticking the 'I am aware' button then it won't let the post go through into advanced editor, and you lose all your text for good. This is rather frustrating, imaginably. Is there a workaround to this?

Option for thread subscription only for updates from the thread starter, especially for WBA threads.
Or maybe a flag for the thread starter to set, to alert subscribers of a new chapter.

"Mentions"
User can specify certain words (such as their own name, or the title of their fic) that they want to track, and get a notification when that word is used.
Main motivation is so authors can know when people are talking about their story, e.g. in the story search sections.

Musical Subforum.
A subforum in Real Life Discussion that only has music threads inside it, along with music based TV shows, such as X-Factor or American Idol.

Change the "Rate Thread" button to "Rate Fic" in the Library subforum. It'd slightly ease confusion for noobs grasping how DLP works.
When I was a noob, I wondered what the point of rating threads on DLP was. It seemed to be almost an e-peen thing that was added on so that OPs could feel good about themselves if they'd made a good thread. It wasn't until later that I realised their significance here. I wouldn't be surprised if some noobs temporarily assumed that the correct method of rating a fic was to write a "x/5 vote" in their posts without realising that they should use the Rate Thread tool instead.
Can we change the "Rate Thread" button to "Rate Fic" in… more

Name History
yak suggested,
Occasionally it can be difficult to tell who-is-who with DLPers changing their nicks, as mentioned here: https://forums.darklordpotter.net/showthread.php?p=467936
It would be very useful to be able to see a list of nicks previously associated with an account. Place it in the "About Me" tab in their public profile.
As an addendum to that, when people change their nicks give them a tiny mask icon next to their name for the next 30 days, so that we know they're an old fag wearing a new identity.
Something like this:

Threads with sub-threads in the WbA section
knuckz suggested,
Threads with sub-threads in the WbA section, so we can read the chapters posted in WbA sequentially without having through go through all the comments in between updates.
The writer can have the main thread (which only they, and I suppose moderators have access to) for posting updates to their story uninterrupted by comments, replies, and discussions, which would automatically go into the sub-thread, which will show separately to the OP.

I’m seeing how feasible this is, it might be too extensive of a system change.

Better UI for Forum Threads
Merrill suggested,
Assuming it's feasible, one way of going about what I'm thinking about is coding that forum to behave differently.
Rough sketch of what I'd like to see:

Work in Progress
Alternate UniverseEither make the initial poster capable of picking two or three tags, in addition to the story's rating, or perhaps experiment with allowing the DLP membership as a whole being able to adjust the story. Each poster (who actually reviews) is able to select one or two tags that have a very easily understood symbol associated with it. After 5 or so reviews, the… more

Breakdown of Votes
Rubicon suggested,
An idea that came to me while reading through some library threads:
Show a breakdown of the votes by rating, rather than just an average. Something like this:
So you could see at a glance, for instance, whether a 3-star story got all 3-star reviews, or an even split of 1-star and 5-star reviews, etc.

How about...
I want a new theme for DLP, something more modern. I want full PC integration. Raven didn't build Patronus Charm because it wanted it to sit and look pretty. He wanted it used. Maybe do something more with that FFFN filter that Moatra built. A link on the main DLP header, something directing traffic to it, since its now hosted on DLP's server.
These things I think will generate more traffic.

Fix ninja posting
https://forums.darklordpotter.net/showpost.php?p=488956&postcount=210
Basically, if someone replied in the time between you seeing the last post and replying to it, don't submit your post but show you the new reply.

Library Improvements II
Expanding on what Merril suggested regarding the Library and the UI, a different way to post things in For Review.
When you create a new thread to post a story, there's not only the normal text field, but a form, which includes fields like Category, Rating, Summary, Pairing, etc., which you *must* fill out to post the thread. What you have entered then automatically becomes the header you currently have to write yourself. The text field is only there for your opinion and the maybe the rating.
With this submit mask, all threads will have a minimum standard, even if… more

Picture Intensive Threads
Be able to mark threads as picture-intensive threads. These threads, when opened, only load images in unread posts. You have to click a button to load the pictures already posted.
Purpose is to prevent the annoying "thread scrolls away from you as you try to look at pics" effect.

User tagging in posts (ala twitter, facebook etc.)
It'd be cool for people to have the option to tag other users in posts, in a similar way to Twitter or facebook. Found a mod for it here: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=242734
Thought someone had requested it already, but apparently not.

Make the website touch device friendly.
It sucks when I cannot highlight spoilers to read them when I am on my iPad or iPhone. I assume it is the same for other touch devices. Make it so that spoilers can still be viewed regardless of what operating system or device you are using.

collapsible spoiler tag (trivial)
https://forums.darklordpotter.net/showpost.php?p=472951&postcount=132
Basically, add a small js that would allow users to collapse the spoiler tags.

An option to ignore a thread, like you can individual people.
Militis, Custer, Gizmore, KrzaQ, Portus, Purple, Rubicon, Silens Cursor, TheSoundOfSilence, Xantam, and Zennith all suggest.

Arcade
Spanks suggested,
I've seen a couple of InvisionFree forums with an arcade. Can you do this with vbulletin? It would be cool to have. We can all compete against each other in Tetris :3
